Stylized lighting?

Sometimes I hear from people some kind of a dichotomy: as if there were "stylized lighting", which is cool and colorful and "realistic lighting", which is boring but more technical.

Sometimes we forget that the light in reality has a lot to offer to an artist and we are free to pick whatever works the best.
